July 27, 2011, 7:07 am ---- with all the tension and anger in the world,it is important for us to stay centered and to relax.fear begets fear-america has been a classic example of this in the last decade or longer.our news media breeds it,thrives on it,spoon feeds us this toxin.the beautiful thing about being human is that we have a choice,we can simply turn off the news and practice more healthy,wholesome activities.today i present the inward smile;first breathe in slowly through the nose and exhale through the mouth.find out where your breath is-is it riding high in the chest?does it guard an old injury?next bring your attention to just below the navel.as you breathe in let this area distend,as you exhale let it ride back towards your spine.now think the word,'smile'.now concentrate on your eye muscles on the inhale,on the exhale think-smile to the eyes.then move to the face around the head,and as the face relaxs let a gentle smile lift the corners of your mouth.bring this,'energy' to all parts of the body,relaxing in love all muscles of the body,all the way down to the toes.don't forget your internal organs that work so hard for you.in Chinese Medicine the concentration in particular would be the liver,heart,stomach/spleen,lungs,and kidneys.you could also include the entire torso which encompasses what they call the,'triple burner',that helps with;elimination,digestion,respiration.please practice this frequently-maybe twice a day.i am teaching a lot of deep restorative Qigong in my classes right now as there is so much stress and tension going on in the world and in individuals.practicing this way,we can truly be,'a Lotus in a Sea of Fire'.peace,T
