I guess it is only natural that my band Shadow Screamers is outside the loop too. Look into your soul and honestly tell me that at least once in your life you have not been outside the loop.Why do we feel so strange when we step out of the norm. Is that not why we are here. jason September 4, 2003, 5:23 pm ---- Look to the state of Mass. for a major ruling on gay marriages.I pray that they will make a wise decision and endorse gay marriages.It is about time that gay couples are given the same rights as heterosexuals.Noone chooses to be gay or heterosexual they just are-it is wonderful that the climate in some places is safer for people to feel empowered to,'come out',why should anyone have to pretend they are something that they are not.I am so tired of the Christian right bullying the rest of the populace with their views.Now they are taking high government positions like our boy georgie porgie-he is clearlyfrom this perspective and is against gay marriege.They rant and rave and quote from old dusty books that have lost total revelance to today's society.Things naturally change over time-ONE MUST ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT THE BIBLE LIKE MOST SACRED LITERATURE WAS WRITTEN BY MAN-TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE IS NO BOOK WRITTEN BY GOD,BUDDHA,ALLAH,OR THE CREATOR-it is simply man's interpretation of the word.If anyone thinks that the bible hasn't changed over the years,they probably have never taken a religious history course which I recommend that they do.Another point-come on politicians let's get real-do we have to make this an issue when there are so many others to contend with?How about how georgie porgie asking for twice the budget to rebuild Iraq?How about pathetic school budgets that show no sign of help?How about so many people hungry and in poverty?How about universal Health Care?Gay's deserve marriage and the rights entitled by this union-case closed.Unless the Constituition has changed that drastically under georgie porgie-they have this right.Remember,'We the People",doesn't just mean the white christian right(mostly male-another interesting note,one of Christ's early followers and early Christian leaders was Mary Magdolon-why do only males represent now-surely if Christ honored the imput of women-arn't we true followers if we do the same?)WAKE UP YOU IDIOTS-MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE(TO SUPPORT GAY MARRIAGES)AND THEN MOVE TO OTHER ISSUES-DO NOT ALLOW SUEDO-RELIGIOUS GRANDSTANDING.love jason Jon ec September 4, 2003, 10:42 am ---- APATHY!!!! Jebby has delayed the cleaning up of the everglades ( he has the audacity to say that it will be better for the Glades in the long run. I guess he thinks we are idiots) He approved massive cuts in the school system. They cut the teachers aid program along with several others . This puts more burden on an already underpaid teacher and the parents that care about their Childs education. Jebby has not accomplished one of the MAJOR promises he made while campaigning for re-election ( I guess he learned from Mom and Dad). Apparently when you grow up spoiled children you can say and do as you like who is going to complain????Anyway check out "Train to Nowhere" its how we feel about this situation. Spread the word only you hold the key,spread the word only you hold the key jason September 2, 2003, 4:39 pm ---- First day of school-what does it mean to a fly sitting on the ass of a bull with bad gass-meanwhile clouds meander by-and I sit in a faculty meeting,pondering how the hell I got here when all I hear is,blah,blah,blah. love a happy little camper in public ed.-yeah jason September 1, 2003, 5:12 pm ---- "Your work is to find your work,and then put all your heart into it",-Buddha.Spoken more than 2500 years ago they still and always will ring true.So many people dispise their jobs-they go day by day making a living yet can't wait for Friday to roll around so they can forget-and then dread Monday when it inevitably comes.We spend perhaps one third of our life working-and sometimes we have to take transitional jobs to make ends meet while we are working towards our dream(bussing tables as an yet to be discovered actress,or working for a septic company as Jon and I once did-Jon would probably back me up on this,but it gives you a new perspective on life when you look up at the sky from the bottom of a septic tank at 6:00am).This is understandable but the work is to find your work.The work that was meant for you in this life.The Creator has given each of us the blessing of life,it was also given to us to fullfill our sacred work.There is no user manual though and some people sadly never find their work-how sad.Sometimes this is due to nagativity surrounding the person with the dream-DON'T EVER LET ANYONE SAY THAT YOU CAN NEVER REACH YOUR DREAM-IF NOONE ELSE DOES,I BELIEVE IN YOU-THERE IS NO GREATER CRUSH TO A DREAM THEN CONSTANT NEGATIVITY!!!!Then there are those that never quit figure it out-there is a way.Please go to nature and slow down,eventually a little voice will be heard that is the message for you.Many people also do internal work through martial arts or Yoga to find the message.The theory being that if you internalize,then you slow down enough to hear that little voice we all hear-that like a caged bird wants to be set free.PLEASE FREE HER-IT IS THE KEY TO HOW YOU LIVE.Such powerful words by the Buddha-words to contemplate and give sustenance to our tired unfocused lives.All for now-love jason Jon ecaeP September 1, 2003, 1:08 pm ---- I lOVE YOU. It took me years to say that to my best friends.I was brought up in a time when men were looked down upon for showing emotions.Through the years I realized that I was suppressing emotions that are a healthy part of human beings male or female.Our time on this incredible planet is precious and short(even though it is not a cake walk) let the people you love know how you feel.John Lennon was not making a trite statement when he said "All you need is Love" sure we require many other necessities but we will never be truly happy if we do not love someone.This sentiment does not make me less of a prides itself on it's rugged individualism.Indeed we have almost made this a creed that stands right up there with the Constituition and the Bill Of Rights(interesting to note that these documents owe alot to Native philosophy).A land of the free to early settlers,enabled groups of people to set out on their own across this great landscape without the shackles of Imperialism,Feudalism,and intolerance.Unfortunately we are human beings and need to socialize as generally we are a gregarious animal.Everyone out for themselves makes for a sort of inverse Anarchist state-thus we had people moving out West quit literally before law and order was even established.The great land rushes of the 1800's were a free for all,and people escaping persecution in their home nations saw this as an opportunity to be free.Our government did not help,they wanted this expansion at any cost-so that young America could flex her growing muscles.The problem is,with a stance of rugged individualism,and the christian stance that Natives were heathens that needed to be wiped out or converted-entire groups of people were wiped out.Some tribes were dead before whites even saw them-due to illnesses their immune systems had never had to deal with before.So we have this makeup of cowboys clearing the land of savages for the betterment of this young Nation.Fundamental error,it denies the makeup of the countries own constitution.Does it not start off saying,"We the People"-it doesn't delineate certain groups of people-it is supposed to mean all people on this great continent(interesting to note that we the people in many tribes is how they identify themselves-or the people as to identify themselves as two-leggeds-not in any way pretentious).Well obviously that didn't mean Natives-and perhaps the largest massacre of human history occured on this continent.Now if the early settlers would have not just modeled the words of Natives in their sacred documents and learned to live in communities as Natives did and do, perhaps this illusion of the "rugged individual"would not have taken root.We would have learned to live on this land and with other great people realizing we are just a strand on the wonderful web of life-and not the spoiled little brats that we have become.Where has this rugged individualism taken us,let's see;we have one of the most dangerous nations for women to live(domestic violence,sexual assualt,poor wages as compared to men),we have more murders and crime than the majority of the so-called industrial nations,we live in communities where we barely know our next door neighbor,yet we try to take control of sports teams and gifted and talented programs-not for the benefit of all children,but for junior so he can be included(the hell with the rest of the kids,it is my right to fight for MY CHILD-even though statistically there are very few,"gifted children"what a misnomer,and the child that is mediocre is given the chance to play superseding even better talent because he is the coaches son).Where is community in all this,where is the African proverb that it takes an entire community to raise one child?Our rugged individualism has destroyed a sense of community,and due to other pressures(econmoic,the ability to move with the highway system and the steady breakup of the nuclear and extended family)we have become lonely,paranoid,fearful beings flipping people off on the highway because they are in our way and we fear,fear,fear.So guns are stored in houses,doors are locked,and people are excluded from our pompous-self-righteous little parties-that only our kind are invited.So I agree with you Michael Moore about the fear factor for gun deathes,but I disagree with you about the historical implications.Yes other countries have been violent,but ours is a nation of ambivalence,we started off with great wonderful words in our sacred documents,but then we enslaved blacks and tried to our best for complete inhilation of Native Americans.Friends we simply are not going to make it with this stance.We need to treat the environment as our relation,we need to be more inclusive as oppossed to exclusive.We need to stop promoting fear and violence,and adopt Dr.King's great stand of non'violence.We need to have more sense of community-we simply can't make it alone-none of us can(no not even you Ronnie or John Wayne).So you have been lied to your entire life we are not rugged individuals,we are human beings in need of love,support and community as we have throughout history.This is my last in the series of,"you have been lied to your entire life".I choose this approach during this time(anniversary of Dr.King's,"I Have a Dream"speech.)to point out changes I feel necessary for us to make it for our childrens children.Dr.King worked his entire life for social change if we simply say,"Oh isn't that wonderful" without examining what currently is still unjust,then we discredit his amazing work and it is relagated to the trashheap of material society.We need to keep his spirit alive!!!!We need to speak out against injustice-no matter what-let us not become the trajedy as he stated that is apathy.You may disagree with everything I have written-that is your wonderful right in this country.My poor attempt has been to keep the spirit of inquiry and justice for all alive.Dr.King thank you,thank you,thank you,thank How about doing something constructive like volunteering to help a homeless shelter or the local school set up their computer system. As far as the whining you should be used to that isn't that what Republicans do best?
